Streaming giant Spotify has unveiled a new ticketing initiative called “Reserved,” a feature designed to help concert tickets reach dedicated fans instead of scalpers and bots.
The new program is set to launch this summer in the United States and will be available to eligible Premium subscribers aged 18 and older.
Under the “Reserved” system, Spotify will identify an artist’s most engaged listeners using metrics such as streams, shares, saves, and other fan activity. Selected users may then receive access to purchase up to two tickets before the general public onsale begins.
According to Spotify, those offers will only remain active for a limited period — typically around 24 hours — before any remaining tickets are released back into the standard onsale pool.
The company also stated that it plans to actively monitor the program for bots and suspicious purchasing behavior in an effort to reduce abuse. Spotify itself will not add additional fees through the program, though ticket availability will vary depending on the artist, city, and tour involved.
Not every listener classified as a “superfan” will necessarily receive an invitation, however.
Fans chosen for the perk will be notified through email and in-app alerts. Spotify recommends users enable Live Events notifications and location settings to improve their chances of receiving offers tied to nearby shows.
Additional information regarding the new feature is available through Spotify’s official Reserved information page.
